Customer Service Representative (Agriculture Laboratory) Job (Burnaby, British Columbia, CA)

Primary Responsibilities
This position is responsible for sample reception, log-in, invoicing, and reporting. This position will work with internal and external customers providing support, information and/or documentation in response to their request or inquiries about SGS services. Incumbents must be capable of multi-tasking to meet the department needs of working with multiple managers / supervisors and assignments simultaneously.

Reporting to
- Sales Executive
- Laboratory Supervisors
- This position works under general direction

Specific responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, sort and label client samples.
- Sample log in into the LIMS system and prepare sample labels and dispatch.
- Custom clearance of samples.
- Subcontracting and subletting samples
- Maintain job order records and filing system
- Generate and maintain spreadsheets, graphs and/or reports as assigned by the management.
- Invoicing for completed work orders.
- Final reports typing and issuing certificates.
- Maintaining filing system.
- Client relations with respect to documentation.
- Maintains payable and receivable accounting files.
- Procurement and receiving of lab supplies through BOSS Oracle system
- Maintain procurement, shipping, and subcontracting documents
- Support with Switchboard duties.
- Support any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor
- Maintains a clean working environment.
- Follow all Quality system policies and procedures and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.
- May sort, process and verify applications, receipts, expenditures, forms and other documents.
- Provides mutual back-up support to other technical staff as required.
- May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.

Skills
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or a General Educational Development equivalency (GED).
- A post secondary education in a recognized administration or science program would be an asset.
- 1 - 3 years of previous working experience in an Administrative related role.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset.
- Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & various equipment.
- Must use good judgment to identify and resolve problems on the job. When in difficulty refer problems to his/her supervisor for resolution.
- Intermediate level of creativity required in solving routine problems.
- Able to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and balancing conflicting demands of high volume versus the quality of results.
- Candidates should be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
- Ability to work well with others & independently.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- A solid understanding of Oracle applications would also be an asset.
- Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
